Tips for Using Snoring Earplugs

It might be hard to fell asleep if you have a significant other that snores a lot.  It might seem like a minor annoyance but relationships have actually broken up over the habit of snoring!  But before you pack your bags - or worse, give in to the temptation of holding a pillow over that person's face while they sleep - why not consider using some snoring earplugs?  These tiny devices can provide the comfort you need to finally get a good night's sleep regardless of the noise coming from the person next to you.  Here are some tips to remember when choosing and using snoring earplugs.

Remember that you're going to need to get some sleep when wearing these, so your snoring earplugs should be very comfortable.  You don't want the same type of earplugs that you might wear during other times such as when swimming; these types of earplugs might not be comfortable enough to let you sleep soundly.  Usually snoring earplugs are made from a softer foam than most earplugs and fit snugly in the ear canal so that sound is blocked out completely but you can still get some sleep.  The strength of the foam material keeps it in shape thus eliminating the need for any adjustment during the night.

Some snoring earplugs are meant to fit over the ears like headphones but of course they're not quite that big.  These models are perfect for those who find that the smaller earplugs fall out over the course of the night.  While they may take some getting used to, typically the over the ear snoring earplugs are comfortable enough for most people to wear and provide the most noise protection.

Of course addressing the snoring problem at its root is best for everyone involved; snoring earplugs are a good fix for the partner but if the snorer can be cured of their problem this is healthier for everyone involved.  Snoring can interrupt the sleep of everyone including the snorer himself or herself, so getting the problem fixed is typically recommended.  Simple homemade solutions are drops and sprays you can get at the pharmacy, using a humidifier in the bedroom, and of course snore pillows to support the head and neck or to keep the snorer on his or her side.
